Hooray for GR++++++!

Might I suggest a desaturation pass on the backgrounds? That way you won't have to have all the sprites be screamingly bright and colorful for them to pop out, and can use the super-intense hues for rare and ultra-important bits of punctuation. (Plus you could also play with the bg saturation to key on some game events, or as another knob to adjust in shaping a level's difficulty.)

But, unless it's already been suggested in the forums somewhere, can I suggest a 'feature'? Maybe one that would've helped with SG?

How about a setting that turns down the level of psycho-visuals to 'I am a bit of a woos' level; the penalty being that scoring is reduced because you are a woos-bag who can't handle 'real gaming use-the force' stuff? Robotron/Defender stuff.

If you are Yak and can reach level 100 on SG with your eyes shut, you select maximum visual assault and therefore gain better scores for it.

That makes sense, doesn't it? Maybe it's challenging to implement.

I think that would help that minority of poor modern gamers who aren't used to having their minds f***ed by trippy visuals. When they realise that they're nowhere on the leaderboard, the penny will drop.

I hope that suggestion helps, because I'm still amazed that SG didn't click and become a turning point in games. And I hate that Jeff is once again struggling to prove his talents whilst stacking shelves at Tesco is more profitable!

The penny never dropped for many that played SG (even the Official Xbox Magazine reviewer thought there was a fire button :rollseyes:) with lousy scores compared to others at the same levels, so can't see it dropping now. Stupid is as stupid does.

Anyway, the Neon effects in this game are handled differently than in SG, so there's really no excuse for bad playing this time.
